By Harry Ball

Many people are surprised that there is so much to say about the Anglo Saxons in the Staffordshire Moorlands and South West Peak. It is an area low on the list of Anglo-Saxon interest. But even though there are no cathedrals castles or hoards of gold in this area, they did impact on the countryside, even if the evidence they left behind is more subtle and less tangible that the sort we find from other periods.
