Description

Come and Take Part in the Barns and Buildings and Small Heritage Adoption Projects in the South West Peak!

We are looking for volunteers of all skill levels and availability to help carry out level 1 building and landscape surveys across the South West Peak, to help record field barns and small heritage assets.

To take part in level 1 surveys, volunteers need to undertake the equivalent of one day’s training led by the South West Peak Cultural Heritage Officer, Dr Catherine Parker Heath.

Due to Covid-19 the original training day to be held at Pott Shrigley Village Hall on Saturday 15th August has been cancelled, so instead, this training will be in two parts over the weekend of 15th and 16th August - the first online and the second out and about in Pott Shrigley

Online training:
Date: Saturday 15th August, 2020
Time: 10:00am - 1:00pm

Practical, Pott Shrigley (exact meeting place to be confirmed):
Date: Sunday 16th August, 2020
Time: 1:30pm - 3:30pm

It is best if you sign up to both days/shifts, but if you can only make the first part then this is ok, but try to come along to one of the scheduled survey dates on Monday 17th, Tuesday 18th or Wednesday 19th August so you can put in to practice what you have learnt as soon as possible. However, you must have done the online bit before coming out on the Sunday or any of the scheduled survey days.

If you can't make either, then further training days will be put on throughout the South West Peak throughout the year and will be listed both on this volunteer site and on:

http://www.southwestpeak.co.uk/activities/

Rest assured we will be following all necessary social distancing measure and you will be given risk assessments to read and agree to before any practical activity.

To sign-up please register as a Volunteer here (it's quick and easy!) and select the activity you would like to participate in.

We hope to see you there!
